<p>Here in Switzerland, we can hardly go 5 paces without seeing something beautiful. From the snow-capped peaks of the Alps to its historic villages and bustling cities, Switzerland has a diverse range of landscapes and vistas that make it a photographer&#8217;s paradise. In this post, we&#8217;ll share our picks for the top 10 photography locations in Switzerland that will inspire you to get out and shoot this beautiful country.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#1: Zermatt</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" src="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/opt1Sebastian-G-1024x768.jpg" alt="opt1Sebastian G" class="wp-image-4493" width="813" height="610" title="Top 10 Photography Locations in Switzerland 1" srcset="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/opt1Sebastian-G-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/opt1Sebastian-G-300x225.jpg 300w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/opt1Sebastian-G-768x576.jpg 768w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/opt1Sebastian-G.jpg 1500w" sizes="(max-width: 813px) 100vw, 813px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo credit: <a href="https://sgg-photography.com/" data-type="URL" data-id="https://sgg-photography.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sebastian Grundgeir</a></figcaption></figure>

<p>Zermatt is a car-free village located at the foot of the Matterhorn, the most iconic mountain in Switzerland. The village and its surroundings are great for landscape and wildlife photography. The Matterhorn is particularly striking during sunset and sunrise. And if you want to spend more time shooting and less time finding, we even offer a <a href="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/trips#switzerland" data-type="URL" data-id="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/trips#switzerland">photography weekend in Zermatt</a> where you&#8217;ll practice your photography and build your portfolio under the guidance of a pro.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#2: Grindelwald</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/2jheng-da-chen-eVwfArKrBj8-unsplash-1024x683.jpeg" alt="2jheng da chen eVwfArKrBj8 unsplash" class="wp-image-4496" width="814" height="543" title="Top 10 Photography Locations in Switzerland 2" srcset="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/2jheng-da-chen-eVwfArKrBj8-unsplash-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/2jheng-da-chen-eVwfArKrBj8-unsplash-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/2jheng-da-chen-eVwfArKrBj8-unsplash-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/2jheng-da-chen-eVwfArKrBj8-unsplash.jpeg 1500w" sizes="(max-width: 814px) 100vw, 814px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo credit: Jheng-Da Chen</figcaption></figure>

<p>Grindelwald is a picturesque village nestled in the Bernese Alps. The village offers stunning views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains. With its mountain railways, cable cars, and hiking trails, Grindelwald is another iconic Swiss location for wildlife and <a href="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/landscape-photography-day-trip" data-type="URL" data-id="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/landscape-photography-day-trip">landscape photography</a>.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#3: Lauterbrunnen</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/3alevision-co-xSwbxr2dpts-unsplash-1-1024x683.jpeg" alt="3alevision co xSwbxr2dpts unsplash 1" class="wp-image-4500" width="818" height="546" title="Top 10 Photography Locations in Switzerland 3" srcset="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/3alevision-co-xSwbxr2dpts-unsplash-1-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/3alevision-co-xSwbxr2dpts-unsplash-1-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/3alevision-co-xSwbxr2dpts-unsplash-1-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/3alevision-co-xSwbxr2dpts-unsplash-1.jpeg 1500w" sizes="(max-width: 818px) 100vw, 818px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo credit: alevision.co</figcaption></figure>

<p>This alpine valley is home to 72 waterfalls, including the famous Staubbach Falls. Lauterbrunnen is an ideal location for <a href="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/landscape-photography-day-trip" data-type="URL" data-id="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/landscape-photography-day-trip">landscape photography </a>year-round, but especially during the spring when the valley is filled with wildflowers.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#4: Grimentz and the Moiry Dam</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/4O858345-Edit-1-1-1024x682.jpeg" alt="4O858345 Edit 1 1" class="wp-image-4503" width="821" height="547" title="Top 10 Photography Locations in Switzerland 4" srcset="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/4O858345-Edit-1-1-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/4O858345-Edit-1-1-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/4O858345-Edit-1-1-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/4O858345-Edit-1-1.jpeg 1400w" sizes="(max-width: 821px) 100vw, 821px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo credit: <a href="https://www.altunphotography.com/" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.altunphotography.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Osan Altun</a></figcaption></figure>

<p>Grimentz is a traditional Swiss village located in the Val d&#8217;Anniviers, possibly the most beautiful in Valais. The village is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery and is particularly known for its beautiful wooden chalets. The nearby Moiry Dam offers a visually impressive juxtaposition between the power of human ingenuity (with the dam over the bright turquoise lake) and the power of nature (with the impressive alps and surrounding glaciers). It&#8217;s less touristy than Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen, and every bit as worth a visit. We love this hidden gem so much we also offer a <a href="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/trips#switzerland" data-type="URL" data-id="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/trips#switzerland">photography weekend in Grimentz &amp; the Moiry Dam</a>.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#5: Lake Geneva</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/519_O859373-Edit-2-1536x1024-1-1024x683.jpeg" alt="519 O859373 Edit 2 1536x1024 1" class="wp-image-4506" width="828" height="552" title="Top 10 Photography Locations in Switzerland 5" srcset="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/519_O859373-Edit-2-1536x1024-1-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/519_O859373-Edit-2-1536x1024-1-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/519_O859373-Edit-2-1536x1024-1-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/519_O859373-Edit-2-1536x1024-1.jpeg 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 828px) 100vw, 828px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo credit: <a href="https://www.altunphotography.com/" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.altunphotography.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Osan Altun</a></figcaption></figure>

<p>Lake Geneva is one of the largest lakes in Europe and is surrounded by picturesque towns and villages. The views of the lake from the Montreux side are particularly stunning; plan a trip to the Château Chillon for amazing landscape shots. The other end of the lake is worth a visit too. Maybe we are biased because it is so close to our <a href="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/studio-rental" data-type="URL" data-id="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/studio-rental">Geneva studio</a>, but the iconic Jet d&#8217;Eau is a photographer&#8217;s dream, offering an interesting focal point for <a href="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/landscape-photography-day-trip" data-type="URL" data-id="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/landscape-photography-day-trip">landscape</a>, <a href="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/street-photography" data-type="URL" data-id="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/street-photography">street</a>, and even <a href="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/night-low-light-photography" data-type="URL" data-id="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/night-low-light-photography">night</a> photography.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#6: Lucerne</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/6jovana-askrabic-vEBsRMCis-c-unsplash-1536x1024-1-1024x683.jpeg" alt="6jovana askrabic vEBsRMCis c unsplash 1536x1024 1" class="wp-image-4509" width="834" height="556" title="Top 10 Photography Locations in Switzerland 6" srcset="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/6jovana-askrabic-vEBsRMCis-c-unsplash-1536x1024-1-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/6jovana-askrabic-vEBsRMCis-c-unsplash-1536x1024-1-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/6jovana-askrabic-vEBsRMCis-c-unsplash-1536x1024-1-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/6jovana-askrabic-vEBsRMCis-c-unsplash-1536x1024-1.jpeg 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 834px) 100vw, 834px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo credit: Jovana Askrabic</figcaption></figure>

<p>Lucerne is a historic town located on the shores of its eponymous lake. It is home to two popular photography spots: the Chapel Bridge&#8211;the oldest covered bridge in Europe, dating back to the 14th century&#8211;and the Lion Monument, which honors the members of the Swiss Guard who died during the French Revolution. The old town&#8217;s narrow streets and medieval architecture also make it a great location for <a href="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/street-photography" data-type="URL" data-id="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/street-photography">street photography</a>. Nearby Mt. Pilatus is also worth a visit for macro photographers; it has a large diversity of wild alpine orchids, all of which are protected and many of which are at risk due to the effects of climate change. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#7: Lavaux</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/7shutterstock_523948486-1024x640.jpeg" alt="7shutterstock 523948486" class="wp-image-4512" width="829" height="518" title="Top 10 Photography Locations in Switzerland 7" srcset="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/7shutterstock_523948486-1024x640.jpeg 1024w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/7shutterstock_523948486-300x188.jpeg 300w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/7shutterstock_523948486-768x480.jpeg 768w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/7shutterstock_523948486.jpeg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 829px) 100vw, 829px" /></figure>

<p>Lavaux is a stunning wine region located on the shores of Lake Geneva. The terraced vineyards, which have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offer panoramic views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The best time to visit is during autumn, when the leaves on the grapevines turn brilliant shades of orange and red. Join us for a <a href="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/landscape-photography-day-trip" data-type="URL" data-id="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/landscape-photography-day-trip">photography day trip to Lavaux</a> to capture the best of this beautiful location.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#8: Appenzell</h3>

<p>Appenzell is a historic town in eastern Switzerland known for its traditional architecture and colorful buildings nestled in the context of stunning alpine landscapes. Appenzell is an ideal location not only for <a href="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/landscape-photography-day-trip" data-type="URL" data-id="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/landscape-photography-day-trip">landscape photography</a> but also s<a href="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/street-photography" data-type="URL" data-id="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/street-photography">treet photography</a>, particularly during the town&#8217;s annual folk festival. It&#8217;s also home to the Äscher restaurant, a highly Instagrammable cliffside shack that&#8217;s worth the hike to photograph.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#9: Aletsch Glacier</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/9stefan-lehner-AR50VsvqgfI-unsplash-1024x683.jpeg" alt="9stefan lehner AR50VsvqgfI unsplash" class="wp-image-4518" width="822" height="548" title="Top 10 Photography Locations in Switzerland 9" srcset="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/9stefan-lehner-AR50VsvqgfI-unsplash-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/9stefan-lehner-AR50VsvqgfI-unsplash-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/9stefan-lehner-AR50VsvqgfI-unsplash-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/9stefan-lehner-AR50VsvqgfI-unsplash.jpeg 1500w" sizes="(max-width: 822px) 100vw, 822px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo credit: Stefan Lehner</figcaption></figure>

<p>The Aletsch Glacier is the largest glacier in the Alps and is located in the Jungfrau-Aletsch Protected Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Grab the cable car up to the top for incredible panoramic views of the glacier and the surrounding peaks. The Aletsch Glacier is an ideal location for <a href="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/landscape-photography-day-trip" data-type="URL" data-id="https://swissphotoclub.com/en-ch/courses/landscape-photography-day-trip">landscape photography</a>, particularly during the winter when it is covered in snow and ice.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#10: Basel</h3>

<p>Located in northern Switzerland, Basel is a vibrant city full of narrow streets and charming squares that offer lots of opportunities for street photography. <h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="Feuerseekirche"><strong>#1 Best Spot for Photography in Stuttgart: Feuerseekirche</strong></h2>

A very nice place to spend one&#8217;s lunch break / evening with a view of this beautiful church in the water. For photographing, it&#8217;s best to go in the morning, when it is not so crowded, or at night, since the church is reflected very beautifully with the lights on the water&#8221; <br>&#8212;<a href="https://www.instagram.com/raw_stuttgart/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@raw_stuttgart</a></figcaption></figure>

<p>No list of the top photography spots in Stuttgart would be complete without this iconic church.&nbsp; Badly damaged during the war, the church was partially rebuilt&#8211;but without the steeple you expect to see on a Neo-Gothic church.&nbsp; This incongruity, along with Feuerseekirche’s beautiful setting on the water (where a lucky photographer may even see sunbathing turtles!), makes this our #1 must-shoot spot for photographers in Stuttgart.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="Woodpecker-Trail"><strong>#2 Best Spot for Photography in Stuttgart:</strong> <strong>Woodpecker Trail</strong></h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/simonboarder/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/a6a54917090512fab58c6b2edbf63d9d-819x1024.jpeg" alt="@simonboarder chose Woodpecker Trail as one of the best places for photography in Stuttgart." class="wp-image-3194" width="470" height="588" title="The best spots for photography in Stuttgart 13" srcset="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/a6a54917090512fab58c6b2edbf63d9d-819x1024.jpeg 819w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/a6a54917090512fab58c6b2edbf63d9d-240x300.jpeg 240w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/a6a54917090512fab58c6b2edbf63d9d-768x961.jpeg 768w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/a6a54917090512fab58c6b2edbf63d9d-1228x1536.jpeg 1228w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/a6a54917090512fab58c6b2edbf63d9d.jpeg 1637w" sizes="(max-width: 470px) 100vw, 470px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">&#8220;If the weather is nice, you can see people there every day. Then there is usually a lot going on.&#8221;&#8211;<a href="https://www.instagram.com/simonboarder/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@simonboarder</a></figcaption></figure>

<p>Our #2 pick for Stuttgart photographers is off the beaten path&#8211;literally!&nbsp; Woodpecker Trail is a 1 km long downhill bike path with 27 different obstacles.&nbsp; This makes it an exciting place for a sports photographer, or really anyone who appreciates the juxtaposition of modern extreme sports in a location of timeless beauty.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="Wilhelma"><strong>#3 Best Spot for Photography in Stuttgart: Wilhelma</strong></h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/picture_0711/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/DSCF3733-81-683x1024.jpg" alt="@picture_0711 chose Wilhelma as one of the best places for photography in Stuttgart." class="wp-image-3255" width="436" height="654" title="The best spots for photography in Stuttgart 14" srcset="https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/DSCF3733-81-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/DSCF3733-81-200x300.jpg 200w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/DSCF3733-81-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://blog.swissphotoclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/DSCF3733-81.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 436px) 100vw, 436px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">&#8220;A cross between a zoo and botanical garden that never gets boring and offers countless beautiful subjects. I usually get an annual pass, think about what I want to photograph and then pack only the appropriate lenses or equipment. The typical Swabian, on the other hand, goes from morning until night and looks at every animal.&#8221;&#8211;<a href="https://www.instagram.com/picture_0711/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@picture_0711</a></figcaption></figure>

<p>Originally the private gardens of King Wilhelm I, this botanical garden and zoo is now open to all.&nbsp; The reason we chose this location as our #3 Top spot for Stuttgart photography is that it offers amazing photographic opportunities for a wide variety of styles.&nbsp; The Moorish-style buildings are a treat for those interested in architecture photography. Photographers interested in landscapes and animals will also find plenty of inspiration here.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="schloss-solitude"><strong>#4 Best Spot for Photography in Stuttgart: Schloss Solitude</strong></h2>

<p>Our next Stuttgart photography hot spot features wide meadows, magnificent views, and old trees and avenues. The palace was designed in a transitional rococo-classical style and is itself a popular photography subject.&nbsp; The grounds and castle terraces, through which you can move freely, are just as beautiful. This stunning setting is naturally a very popular choice for wedding photography.</p>

<p>This former military parade ground has been completely reimagined, and now serves as a popular outdoor event space in Stuttgart. The beautiful setting, as well as the wide variety of events that take place here, make it a top photography spot in Stuttgart.&nbsp; Shoot the gardens in the summer, the ice skaters or Christmas lights in the winter, or the impressive architecture at any time.</p>

Generally, it is good to go on weekday mornings. When the weather is nice on the weekend, it is unfortunately very crowded there.&#8221;&#8211; <a href="https://www.instagram.com/visitstuttgart/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">@visitstuttgart</a></figcaption></figure>

<p>Another former quarry turned into a public park, Höhenpark Killesberg is Stuttgart&#8217;s largest city park. From the top of Killesberg Tower, you can see panoramic views of the entire park. At night, the tower is illuminated, which adds additional interest for photographers. </p>

The front side especially looks exciting and is now also one of the characteristic buildings of Stuttgart. What&#8217;s more, you can get there relatively easily, and the square in front of the museum is perfect for taking pictures. If you walk a few meters further in the direction of the street, there is also a small fountain, which you can additionally incorporate into the composition. And if you shoot the museum from the front and close the aperture, you&#8217;ll get great aperture stars on the spotlights directly in front of it.&#8221;&#8211;<a href="https://www.instagram.com/0711bilder/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@0711bilder</a></figcaption></figure>

<p>Last but certainly not least on our list of Best Photography Spots in Stuttgart is, of course, the iconic Mercedes-Benz Museum. Cars are in Stuttgart&#8217;s DNA; and this building, whose shape is inspired by the double helix, is one of the city&#8217;s best-known landmarks. Photographers interested in cityscapes can capture stunning photos of this unusual building, especially at dusk and early night.</p>
